The Characters (so far)
Kevyn O’Malley: His parents and extended family were attacked by a creature that is rumored to live in the forest. Consequently, he has developed an unnatural fear of death.Father Kearny: The only pastor living in the small town of Aldebrand. His desire to protect Kevyn from the dangers of the forest often interferes with Kevyn’s plans.
Mr. and Mrs. Lineman: An elderly couple who, having suffered losses of their own, decide to raise Kevyn as their son.
Tommy Lineman: The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lineman, Tommy is much older than Kevyn, but decides to take the boy under his wing. Tommy’s most desperate ambition is to join the army.
Ignatius Willoughby: Mrs. Lineman’s Uncle “Iggy” always invites the family over for the holidays. His exaggerated stories and strange collections intrigue Kevyn, who begins to wonder if Uncle Iggy’s “tall tales” are true.
Mark and Ian Willoughby: Mrs. Lineman’s nephews often join Kevyn and his new family at Uncle Ignatius’ house for the tri-annual Christmas gathering.
Pier Dougal: Pier met Kevyn during one of Father Kearny’s sermons, and became one of his close friends.
Drakein Peregrine: One of the Draconian monks punished for the murder of the last three surviving Dragons and their eggs. He is forced to play host to the Dragons' spirits.
Benedictus Varian: One of the Draconian monks punished for the murder of the last three surviving Dragons and their eggs. He was transformed into the Dragons' slave, and is therefore under the authority of their vessel, Drakein Peregrine. The only known antidote to Varian's condition lies within a cave just outside of Aldebrand.
Simeon Quant: One of the Draconian monks punished for the murder of the last three surviving Dragons and their eggs. He harbors all of the Dragons' magical possessions, but it is near impossible to sell them since (to the naked eye) they do not seem to be worth anything.
